Community Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 15th, 7pm at the Bearspaw Community Association (LIfestyle Centre) ---

STOP THE SCOTT PIT!
PROTECT BEARSPAW!

Heidelberg IS A Threat to Our Community

Over the last 30 years, Rocky View County rejected three proposals for the Scott Pit, located on the north side of Burma Road between Range Road 25 and Rocky Ridge Road.

Now, for a fourth time, our community is being asked to defend itself against a proposed industrial-scale gravel operation in the heart of Bearspaw.  Rather than seeking approval from Rocky View County, Heidelberg asked the Province to have the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) decide whether the pit is “in the public interest”. This potentially overrides three previous decisions by our elected municipal government.

This is a critical moment for our community!

A strong, unified community voice through the Bearspaw Community Coalition (BCC) will maximize our ability to present an effective case at the NRCB.

Please sign the coalition’s consent form and demonstrate that our community stands together.

About the Coalition

The Bearspaw Community Coalition (BCC) represents hundreds of residents from Bearspaw and neighbouring communities who are committed to protecting the character, safety, and long-term sustainability of our country residential communities.

Our mission is straightforward: to protect our community from the significant impacts of the proposed Scott pit, a large-scale industrial gravel extraction and processing project planned for the heart of Bearspaw that would operate for decades.

The NRCB process is not a typical municipal review. Heidelberg will bring teams of lawyers, engineers and technical experts to support its application. To ensure our community’s concerns are heard and given serious consideration, we must be equally prepared with expert advice, legal representation, and a well-co-ordinated strategy grounded in evidence and fact.

The BCC was established to bring those resources together.  No individual resident can reasonably assemble the technical evidence, expert analysis, and legal expertise required for a proceeding of this scale and complexity.  By working together, our community can present a stronger, more credible case and ensure that our concerns are fully heard, carefully considered and supported by the evidence necessary to influence the NRCB’s decision-making process.

We all have a role to play in protecting our community!
